Easy Crescent Roll Apple Dumplings for Fall

If there is one thing I love, it’s a recipe that looks like I put way more effort into it than I actually did. These easy crescent roll apple dumplings are exactly that.

They’re warm, gooey, sweet, and basically everything you want in an easy fall dessert. Even better, you only need a handful of ingredients and about 10 minutes of prep before they go into the oven.

I made these after picking up one of the specially marked Food Lion Feeds Apple Bags at Food Lion, and they were such an easy way to turn our apples into a cozy fall treat the whole family could enjoy.

An Apple Bag That Gives Back

What made this grocery run a little more special was their Food Lion Feeds Apple Bags.

When you purchase a specially marked Food Lion Feeds Apple Bag at Food Lion, you get fresh apples for your family while a portion of your purchase helps provide meals for neighbors facing hunger in your local community.

I love finding ways to teach my kids that giving back doesn’t always have to be something huge. Sometimes it can be as simple as choosing a certain bag of apples during the grocery trip we were already making.

You can also make a donation at the register, and I always make sure to use my MVP card and check the Food Lion app for Digital Coupons because feeding a family of six means I am absolutely looking for ways to stretch that grocery budget.

The Easiest Fall Apple Dumplings

Now for the part my kids cared about: dessert.

You basically wrap apple slices in crescent roll dough, cover them in a buttery brown sugar mixture, add lemon lime soda between the rolls, and bake.

That’s it.

And somehow they come out looking and tasting like you spent way more time in the kitchen than you actually did.

What You'll Need

For this recipe, you'll need:

  • 2 apples

  • 2 cans crescent roll dough

  • ½ cup unsalted butter

  • 1½ cups light brown sugar

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 cup lemon lime soda

How to Make Crescent Roll Apple Dumplings

Start by preheating your oven to 350°F and buttering a 9x11-inch baking dish.

Peel and core your apples, then cut them into eight wedges. Unroll the crescent dough and place an apple wedge on the wide end of each triangle. Roll the dough around the apple and place it seam-side down in your baking dish.

Next, melt your butter in a small saucepan. Stir in the brown sugar until dissolved, followed by the vanilla.

Pour that buttery brown sugar mixture over the crescent rolls, making sure they're well covered.

Pour the lemon lime soda between the dumplings rather than directly over the dough.

Bake everything for 35–40 minutes, until the crescent rolls are golden and your kitchen smells ridiculously good.

An Easy Fall Dessert I'll Actually Make Again

These are exactly my kind of fall recipe. They're easy enough to make with kids running around, they don't require a million ingredients, and the finished dessert feels way fancier than the amount of work involved.

Serve them warm as-is, or I personally think a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top would be VERY hard to argue with.

And considering we were buying apples anyway, I love that grabbing a specially marked Food Lion Feeds Apple Bag at Food Lion gave us an easy fall baking activity while also helping support our local community.

Next time you're at Food Lion, look for the specially marked Food Lion Feeds Apple Bags, and definitely save this recipe for when you get home.
